Aki Corsoni-Husain is a partner in the Cyprus office of international law firm Harneys. As the Head of Regulatory within the Global Tax and Regulatory department, Aki specialises in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious financial services, anti-money laundering and information exchange law covering the BVI and the EU.
Additionally, Aki advises various regimes governing banks, investment firms, trust and fiduciary services providers and the insurance industry. Aki serves as a contributing editor to many publications, including British Virgin Islands Commercial Law, Bermuda Commercial Law and International Guide to Money Laundering Law and Practice.

Roni is a partner of the Herzog, Fox & Ne’eman law office with a particular focus on cryptocurrency and financial services. He is a founding member of the HFN cryptocurrency practice and advises clients on all aspects their Initial Coin Offering (ICO), provision of services related to the blockchain industry, trading and operating a trading venue for cryptocurrencies and integrating cryptocurrencies as part of their existing business (i.e. as a payment method, as store credit, etc.). This includes, among many others, the correct structuring of the cryptocurrency to be issued by the client, regulatory aspects concerning the cryptocurrency offering in the various jurisdictions, selling restrictions under securities law, issues related to payments regulation, the applicability of financial regulation and anti-money laundering as well as know-your-costumer. Roni is part of the practice’s core team and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the various projects under the firm’s cryptocurrencies practice.

Dr Theodosis Mourouzis is a Research Fellow at the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies and Founder/Managing Director of Cyprus Blockchain Technologies LTD, a  non-profit organisation founded by several local enterprises interested in Blockchain technology. He received his PhD in Computer Science with specialisation in cryptography from University College London and a BA/MSc in Mathematics from University of Cambridge. Mrs Michaelidou has successfully implemented European projects in the area of Sustainable development in the tourism industry. At the moment, she is leading the Limassol participation in the Civitas Destinations Project for Sustainable Mobility and two newly acquired Interreg projects ‘ΕΥ-ΚΙΝΗΣΗΣ’ in the same field and ‘ANDIKAT’ for diving tourism. Utilizing European Funding and strong local networking, she aims to contribute to the significant upgrading of the tourist product of Limassol. Alexandros Constantinou is a Director and the Head of Compliance Services and Research Department of MAP S.Platis. He has extensive experience in advising international financial services organizations on regulatory and risk management matters. Alexandros joined MAP S.Platis in 2008 and since then he has led and developed the compliance support services and regulatory research division of the firm. Licensed to practice law in the United States, Alexis is working at NÄGELE Attorneys at Law in the department of IT and Capital Markets Law, advising clients on how to bring their DLT based projects to life through the use of the Principality’s favorable regulatory environment. Having been involved in Crypto and Blockchain since attending the Texas Bitcoin Conference in 2014, Alexis developed a strong passion for blockchain technology and its practical applications for moving towards decentralization and increased personal autonomy. This led to a focus on all things blockchain during the pursuit of her Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama, where she wrote multiple papers on blockchain-based applications in the areas of real property, intellectual property, and accounting. Using the skills acquired through her legal education, as well as her undergraduate degree in philosophy, Alexis is able to strategically assess situations for the benefit of her clients. At the end of the day, she firmly believes that those of us involved in blockchain and crypto who believe we can change the world for the better will be the ones that truly do.

Dr. Sotirios P. Chatzis (Cyprus University of Technology, CUT) is an Assistant Professor at the department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics (EECEI) at CUT. His pioneering research has been published through more than 70 papers in the most prestigious journals and conferences of his research field. He is Program Committee member the top-tier venues in Machine Learning, including NIPS and ICML. He is serving as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and the Pattern Recognition journal. He is leading the Machine Learning laboratory of CUT, which currently comprises 6 PhD students and one post-doctoral researcher.

Dr. Panayiotis Philimis has studied Mechanical Engineering and has a PhD in Manufacturing Systems and AI. He has 10 years experience in product testing, certification and metrology. His expertise extends to design and development of disruptive high-tech products including robotics, wearables etc. and he has several publications and patents to his name. He is president of the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE) and a member of the BoD, of the European Business Network (EBN), the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce  & Industry,  the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) and the Cyprus Academic and Research Network (CyNET). He is also the founder of Gravity Ventures, a high-tech venture building incubator based in Nicosia.

Dr. Mariella Baldacchino is a warranted Maltese lawyer and one of E&S Group directors. She joined the law firm in 2016 and has successfully advised and assisted more the 50 ICOs in 2018. Her role in the firm is to meet and assist ICO clients and other crypto-based businesses. She also provides legal advice to all crypto related activity, from concept stage through their actual offering up until the ICO closure following Maltese Law. One important aspect of her role is to build a solid relationship with prospective clients as well as developing and nurturing client relations. She also leads, guides, and manages the ICO legal team at E&S Group in order to provide exceptional legal services to ICO clients. Mariella holds a Doctorate in Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta and a Master Degree in ‘Direttivo Privato Europeo’ at the University of La Sapienza in Rome.

Having spent more than 10 years in the finance industry, and with accumulated knowledge and experience he joined Currency.com in 2018.

Yiannis is the president of the Cyprus Blockchain Association, and a board member of the European Blocktech Federation. He is an award winning professional in the space of blockchain and fintech, and he has collaborated with a number of regulators for integrating blockchain in the space of digital finance. Yiannis is also a digital currency lecturer at the University of Nicosia, as well as a board member and advisor in international investment and fintech groups such as FBS, KOUD, ArtiumPro. He is a holder of advanced academic qualifications from the MIT, Yale and Leeds universities. He has studied mathematics and financial engineering, and he is certified as a regulated professional in the financial services industry.
